Eunuchs strip to extort, shopkeeper files plaintTNN | Apr 24, 2011, 05.07am IST
AHMEDABAD: A shopkeeper on the busy Gandhi road had a tough time
warding off a bunch of stubborn eunuchs who demanded a huge sum from
him for his renovated store on Saturday. The shopkeeper gave in only
after the eunuchs stripped and refused to budge from his store.
It was around 1 pm when four eunuchs walked into the electronic goods
store which had just been renovated and demanded money, embarrassing
the customers. The shopkeeper tried telling them that the store was
only renovated and it was not new, but they refused to listen and
demanded Rs 5,000.
An argument ensued when the shopkeeper offered them Rs 500. They
abused and shouted and then stripped and sat in his shop refusing to
move. They banged the counter and created a ruckus. Since many clients
were waiting, the embarrassed staffers rushed to the Fernandez bridge
police chowky for help, but found no one since it was lunch hour.
Finally an hour after the naked eunuchs refused to budge from the
shop, the storekeeper gave them Rs 3000 to settle the bargain.
The eunuchs left only after warning the shopkeeper that he would have
to pay them each time they came, because he had not given them money
after buying the store.
The shopkeeper filed an application at the Khadia police station
against the eunuchs and also demanded police protection against them.
