One has to get to the Baga Bridge and go to XAVIER RETREAT HOUSE. There is a small Cross, around which one can park bikes. Take the little wall entrance to squeeze yourself through. After a nice trek of an around 5 minutes you come to OLA !! a beach which mostly gays frequent---> GAGA BEACH. Incidentally someone was saying the other day that GAGA in Danish means a little crazy !!! Hey isn't it a place for folks to get crazy

IPC, section 377 for Unnatural offences: Whoever voluntarily has carnal intercourse against the order of nature with any man, woman or animal, shall be punished with imprisonment for life, or with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to ten years, and shall also be liable for a fine.

it does have a lot of side-effects. 

Anal sex increases the risk of HIV transmission. The safest and most comfortable anal sex should involve a condom and lots of lubricant. There’s usually no such a thing as too much lubricant when it comes to anal sex. Also, if you or your partner isn't relaxed, it can be painful. The anus isn't expected to stretch like a vagina, and it does not lubricate itself.

The walls of the anus can be torn, especially if thrusting is energetic. You can get infected because of a nasty bacterial infection. The other possible side-effects are vaginal infections, penile irritation, higher risk of anal warts, hemroids  and anal cancer. A breakdown of anal walls over time can lead to bowl problems, rectal fissures and bleeding. 

Anal sexually transmitted infections 

& Risk of HIV infection in Homosexual MEN ??

The two sexually transmitted infections most strongly associated with HIV acquisition in gay and bisexual men are anal warts and anal gonorrhoea, Australian researchers report in the online edition of the Journal of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndromes.   Herpes infections did not emerge as significant in this study, but men with warts were three times more likely to acquire HIV, and men with gonorrhoea were seven times as likely. The authors suggest that more frequent screening for anal sexually transmitted infections in gay men should be investigated as a means of HIV prevention.

Numerous observational studies have suggested that sexually transmitted infections (STIs) facilitate the acquisition and transmission of HIV. However most studies have been conducted among heterosexuals, and previous prospective studies have not examined the full range of sexually transmitted infections that are common in gay and bisexual men. In particular, genital or anal warts have often been overlooked, and many studies have not distinguished between genital and anal infections. Warts are caused by infection with certain strains of the human papilloma virus (HPV). Infection with other strains of HPV may lead to cervical or anal cancer, but people with warts are not more likely to develop cancer. A recent study found that men infected with cancer-causing HPV are more likely to acquire HIV.

In the new study, 1,427 HIV negative homosexually active men in Sydney were recruited to the HIM (Health in Men) cohort and were interviewed about their risk behaviour twice a year. The average time men stayed in the study was just under four years. Once a year, participants were offered a sexual health screen. This involved blood tests for HIV, syphilis and herpes simplex virus (HSV-1 and HSV-2). Gonorrhoea and chlamydia were both tested with urine and anal swab samples. In addition, at interviews, men were asked about recent diagnoses of STIs (including genital and anal warts, for which simple tests are not available).

A total of 53 men subsequently acquired HIV infection, and interview and STI data was available for 47 of them. The researchers analysed which STI diagnoses were associated with acquiring HIV during the same six month period. In the first analysis, before controlling for differences in sexual behaviour, the following infections were all associated with HIV infection:

ü      Anal gonorrhoea

ü      Anal chlamydia

ü      Anal warts

ü      Genital warts

ü      HSV-1 (at baseline only)

Infections of gonorrhoea and chlamydia in the penis were not associated with acquiring HIV. Moreover, whereas HSV-1 infection at the beginning of the study was associated with acquiring HIV, subsequent HSV-1 infection or HSV-2 infection at either time were not.

In most studies, it is HSV-2 that is most commonly associated with HIV infection, but the authors suggest that HSV-1 may be becoming more relevant in some industrialised countries. The researchers then conducted an analysis which controlled for the number of times that men reported unprotected anal intercourse with a partner of unknown HIV-status or with an HIV-positive partner. In this analysis, men who had anal gonorrhoea diagnosed by the researchers were seven times more likely to acquire HIV (hazard ratio 7.12; 95% confidence interval 2.05 - 24.75). Moreover, men who reported anal warts were over three times more likely to acquire HIV (hazard ratio 3.63; 95% confidence interval 1.62 - 8.14). Association between other sexually transmitted infections and HIV acquisition was no longer statistically significant. However, it’s important to note that because the number of infections was relatively small in this sample, the study lacked statistical power to examine these relationships, and it is possible that a much larger study would identify an association. The authors note that in most cases, the anal gonorrhoea diagnosed was asymptomatic. They suggest that it is plausible that long-standing infections, which can cause rectal inflammation, may be associated with HIV infection.

The researchers suggest two possible mechanisms by which warts may facilitate HIV transmission. Firstly, the warts themselves may weaken the integrity of the epithelial barrier to HIV. Secondly, the authors note that treatment for warts often produces ulceration and inflammation over a period of weeks or months, and it may be the treatment itself that increases the risk of infection. The second suggestion would need to be validated by further research. Moreover, it may seem to be in contradiction with the authors’ conclusions and recommendations: “These findings suggest that frequent sexual health screening and prompt treatment of STIs, particularly anal STIs, should be investigated as potential means of HIV prevention in homosexual men.”

The garish rouge-wearing, gajra-sporting, effeminate eunuchs who hovered around city’s traffic signals clapping, singing and pestering you till you parted with some money, have given way to a new kind of menace — lecherous men dressed as eunuchs. They don’t just beg. They tug at clothes, touch, grope and stop just short of molesting young women at traffic signals.


This has become a common sight at Patny circle, Ameerpet, Begumpet, Nagarjuna Circle and Necklace Road, among other areas, where these men move about in groups of five-six, terrorising unsuspecting commuters.

“There’s no doubt they are men, and not harmless eunuchs,” says Nitya Rao, a student. “Earlier, eunuchs used to target men and talk flirtatiously to them with an intention of embarrassing them into giving money. But this new lot, who hang out near St Francis college, eye only women and try to touch them.”

Anisha G., a student, who suspects that most eunuchs on city streets are actually men dressed in women’s clothes, agrees. “This feeling has only intensified after I was groped by a eunuch. While my friend was trying to ward off one of them as they hounded us for money, the other suddenly lunged at me and assaulted me before fleeing.”

Hari Kumar, DCP (central zone) admits that cops have heard of men dressing up as women to extort money. “but we cannot take action as no formal complaint has been lodged,” he says. “If people are harassed by eunuchs they should lodge a complaint with us. A case of extortion, criminal intimidation or outraging the modesty of an individual can be registered and action can be taken,” he adds.

Their modus operandi too is different, say women. Gone are the days when eunuchs reacted to refusal of alms by threatening you with an emotional, sometimes comical, ‘Hijre ki haai lagegi...’ (You’ll be cursed by a eunuch).

These days, they have new weapons, says commerce student Pritha Tolia, who recalls travelling witha classmate in an autorickshaw when two eunuchs demanded money.

“When we refused, they began tugging at our hands with a lecherous expression. What was scary was that they were carrying bottles with coloured water and threatened to douse us with it if we didn’t comply,” she says.

Lucknow, Feb. 16: An Aligarh Muslim University professor due to retire this year has been suspended for alleged homosexual acts in his campus residence, the charge sparking a row with activists pointing out that gay sex was no longer a crime. The February 10 order against Professor S.R. Siras came seven months after Delhi High Court decriminalised adult consensual intercourse in any form in a landmark judgment now waiting for the Supreme Court’s verdict. The university has asked Siras, who headed the department of modern Indian languages, to vacate his official residence. “Yes, he has been charged with indulging in homosexuality in his official residence on the AMU campus,” spokesperson Rahat Abrar said. “He will now have to face a committee set up by the vice-chancellor.” A bitter Siras today told The Telegraph he would leave Aligarh, where he has taught for 22 years, and return to his hometown Nagpur. “I am 64 and in fragile health. The charge of active homosexuality levelled against me is absurd,” he said. “When the high court has decriminalised homosexuality, how can the university level such a charge?” Siras, who has a PhD in modern Marathi fiction, said someone in his department had “framed” him. “I remember that on February 6 evening, some unknown men barged into my residence and began recording me while I was talking to a young man I didn’t know. Before leaving, these men threatened to expose me. I didn’t believe them. But my worst fears came true when the university handed me the suspension letter.” AMU sources said on February 8, some unknown complainants submitted to the VC’s office a video-recording of the professor “in an indecent posture” with a young man, said to be a rickshaw-puller in his twenties. On February 10, the authorities decided to suspend the professor. “I was not asked anything. I was called by the VC’s office and handed over the suspension letter,” Siras said. “To sound more real, the university might have accused me of indulging in passive homosexuality as I am too old for active homosexuality. But is that an offence?” Mumtaz Alam, a gay activist in Lucknow, said homosexuality was still being branded a crime by some orthodox scholars unwilling to change their mindset. A colleague of Siras said he should fight back. But Siras has refused to move court. “What is the point? They did this earlier against me in 1996, suspending me for the same fake charge and then revoked it.” AMU spokesperson Abrar said Siras could defend himself before the disciplinary committee by citing the court order. “But this much we can tell you, the video clips we have received along with a complaint letter are really indecent.”

LUCKNOW: An Aligarh Muslim University professor, on the verge of retirement, was suspended after some students set up cameras to catch him having consensual sex with a rickshaw-puller in his campus home, and sent the video film to university authorities. Dr Shrinivas Ramchandra Siras, reader and chairman of Modern Indian Languages at AMU, now says he won't challenge his suspension and would voluntarily leave. 

Siras's decision not to question his suspension has come as a relief to AMU authorities, who are more than keen to bury the ``embarrassing episode'' as it could raise a serious issue of gay rights on the campus since the professor wasn't accused of any wrongdoing or criminal action. Consensual sex with a same-sex partner isn't a crime in itself. 

``Siras was captured on camera having sex with a rickshaw-puller. It's a scandal that no institution of repute can overlook. Therefore he was placed under suspension on February 9 by the order of the VC, Prof P K Abdul Azis,'' said AMU public relations officer Rahat Abrar. 

``Dr Siras lived in a house allotted to him in the medical colony on the AMU campus. On February 8, he was home in the company of a young rickshaw-puller from Jamalpur area of the town. Since the door was open, two reporters from a local TV channel barged into the house and filmed him and his companion. The video clippings were then sent to AMU authorities who were constrained to proceed against Siras,'' said Abrar. 

Siras was served a memo on February 9 by the office of the AMU registrar, Dr V K Abdul Jalil, under rule 403-C of the statute of the university, after a prima facie case of ``gross misconduct'' was made out against him. Other disciplinary proceedings would follow only after framing of charges. 

Amid swirling tales of his ``sordid'' sexual preferences, Siras was quietly packing his bags. Talking to TOI over phone, he refused to contest the charges before any enquiry committee. ``Let them say what they want to. I am not going to offer any clarification,'' he said. ``You don't have to abuse back if someone abuses you. I am already on the verge of retirement and, therefore, would rather be gone than to stretch the issue,'' he said. This, the university authorities feel, ``is the only respectable and sensible option under the unfortunate circumstances.''

New Delhi: All India Muslim Personal Law Board has moved the Supreme Court challenging a Delhi High Court judgment on legalising homosexuality between consenting adults.
The Delhi High Court had on July 2 last year while holding that gay sex between two adults by mutual consent is not a crime had recommended to the government to suitably amend section 377 of IPC dealing with unnatural sex including Homosexuality and Sodomy.
The AIMPLB in its petition has contended that Gay sex is against the principle of nature and will lead to sexual corruption in society and may also increase the incidents of people contracting serious ailments like cancer and Aids.
AIMPLB has prayed to the apex court to set aside the impugned judgement of the High Court which is against the cultural and religious ethos of the country.

 

BANGALORE: The sordid tale of some organisations sullying the image of NGOs is highlighted by allegations of malpractices against Elango Ramachandar, the founder of the Karnataka Network for People Living With HIV (KNP+).Elango, who worked for the NGO Samraksha from 1994 to 2000 before working wholetime for KNP+, had allegedly taken Rs 1,000 from the Rs 5,000 given to him by an NGO to hand over to Saroja Puthran after her husband passed away.“I was shocked to know that Elango handed over only Rs 4,000 to Saroja,” says a former employee of the NGO.Saroja says, “He told me that he had deducted Rs 1,000 to meet his petrol expenses.” “Many people have complained to me about the corrupt practices of Elango,” says Manohar Elavarthy, the founder of Sangama, which works for sex workers and sexual minorities.There are also allegations of harassment against Elango. “He is known for using filthy language and harassing volunteers, so much so that some people even attempted to manhandle him at a meeting in Chennai a few years ago,” recalls a HIV+ person on condition of anonymity. Letters in Expresso’s possession allege that Elango has intimidated volunteers and employees of KNP+.Elango denies the allegations.“These are allegations made by some employees and volunteers thrown out of KNP+ for their poor performance.I neither harassed any volunteer or employee nor collected money for issuing salary cheques,” he says.Some people feel that Elango had played a major role in Parveen enacting a suicide drama in Bangalore a few weeks ago and claim that he and his wife provided information on the alleged suicide bid to a few newspapers and gave Parveen shelter after she was discharged from hospital. “Yes. I provided shelter to Parveen because she had no clothes and no one to turn to,” says Elango.His wife, Asha, complains of noncooperation by district networks associated with KNP+. Recently, Asha was appointed by Karnataka State AIDS Prevention Society to evaluate the work of district networks associated with KNP+. “I received a threatening call while I was in Davanagere. They asked me how I could visit the place without their consent. Locked doors greeted me when I visited Bellary for evaluation work,” she alleges.Whatever the truth, HIV+ people are the ones who will suffer. The need of the hour is for funding agencies to start auditing accounts of NGOs. Such an initiative will not only ensure transparency and prevent misuse of funds.

 

Homosexuals increasing in Mizoram

Aizawl, January 5 (NNN): The number of gays are increasing in Mizoram, according to an NGO based in the state. According to a report by the NGO there are 315 homosexuals or gays counted so far in Mizoram. The figure may be even more but due to social taboo and others negative view from the people on the gays, many do not disclose their real 'gender'. The NGO in question prefers to remain incognito for the time being as the survey work in this mission is still underway.
Meanwhile, the blood samples tested on 119 gays and it was found that 10 of them have been infected with the dreaded HIV positive. According to the study, a good number of gays is much more in Aizawl than other places in Mizoram.
Despite the Delhi High Court's order on Section 377 of IPC, the Mizoram government may turn back to pages of the state archives to find out where exactly the state stands so far as homosexuality is concerned. Superintendent of then Lushai Hills HWG Cole had issued a statute under the British rule in 1909, criminalising homosexuality. After the statute was implemented in the Lushai Hills, homosexuals were often treated as outcasts. Churches and social leaders are against legalising homosexuality in Mizoram claiming that it was directly against Christianity and the Bible.
